Premium Equipment, Uniquely Yours
Heavy Industrial Equipment Repair, Rebuild, and Custom Manufacturing
For more than 40 years, we have built, rebuilt, and kept running the equipment heavy industry depends on. Engineering, machining, fabrication, and assembly under one roof in Bessemer, Alabama. If you can visualize it, we can build it.

— The Call We Take
When the OEM will not quote it, we will
Most plants meet us the same way. A machine is down, the part is obsolete, the original manufacturer is gone or quoting a year out, and nobody wants to replace an entire line over one component. That is the call we take.
AMAC is a vertically integrated manufacturer serving steel, pipe, pulp and paper, power generation, rail, port, and mining operations across the Southeast and nationally. Engineering, CNC machining, gear cutting, welding, fabrication, electrical, assembly, and paint all happen in our own facility, which means one accountable path from a difficult requirement to a working machine. We are ISO 9001:2015 certified by Perry Johnson Registrars.
We are not building our equipment. We are building yours.
— How Work Starts
Four ways plants start working with us

Industrial equipment repair
Send us the machine, the component, or the assembly. We diagnose it, tell you what we find, and give you a straight recommendation, including when replacing makes more sense than repairing.

Equipment rebuild
Full teardown, inspection, replacement of worn components, reassembly, and testing. You keep the same footprint, the same mounting points, and the same controls your plant is already built around, which is the part a new machine cannot give you.

Obsolete and sole-source parts
When a part is discontinued, the drawings are gone, or the original supplier will not quote it, we reverse engineer it.

Modification and custom build
New equipment engineered to your conditions, or existing equipment modified to do something it was never designed to do. Low volume, non-standard, and difficult is the work we are set up for.
— Industries We Serve
Pick your operation
Different plants, same problem. Equipment that has to run, parts that are no longer supported, and a schedule that will not wait on a catalog. Choose the lane closest to your operation.
— Reverse Engineering
Obsolete parts reverse engineering
Industrial equipment routinely outlives the manufacturer's interest in it. A machine with twenty years of service left goes down over a bushing, a housing, a gear, or a bracket that nobody makes anymore. The parts catalog stopped caring before the machine did.
We reverse engineer discontinued and sole-source components using 3D scanning and in-house engineering, then machine or fabricate the replacement in the same building. You do not hand off between a scanning vendor, an engineering firm, and a machine shop, which is where most obsolete part projects lose weeks.
Send us a part number, a photograph, or a drawing. If you have none of those, send us the old part. A worn component and its mating parts are usually enough to work from.
You get the finished part and the dimensioned drawing, so the next replacement starts at material and machine time instead of starting over.

Steel, pipe, and tube
Steel mill equipment repair, rebuild, and custom fabrication for producers who cannot wait out an OEM lead time. We handle teardown, inspection, machining, welding, reassembly, and testing on mill equipment, drive components, and heavy weldments, with multiple 25-ton overhead cranes for components most shops cannot lift. Alabama is home to three of the nation's seven major pipe-makers, and we are twenty minutes from the center of it.

- Drive components
- Heavy weldments
- 25-ton lift capacity

Pulp and paper
Paper mill equipment repair, machined replacement parts, and custom fabricated assemblies. We have developed custom products for paper operators with specialized requirements, and we schedule around outage windows rather than catalog lead times. When a component fails between outages, we work to the date the machine has to run, not the date a distributor can ship.
- Outage window scheduling
- Machined replacements
- Custom assemblies
— 03
Power generation
Power plant equipment repair and rebuild, custom fabricated components, and machined replacements for plant equipment where the original part is no longer available or the original supplier no longer supports it. Precision machining to drawing, or to the failed part when the drawing no longer exists.
- Machining to drawing
- Machining to failed part
- Custom fabrication

Rail and transit
Locomotive rebuild services, yard locomotive projects, personnel transport vehicles, and custom rail-based equipment. We have been building rail-based machines for decades, and our locomotives and buses have stayed in service for more than 30 years. Short line and terminal railroads run equipment well past its OEM support window, which is exactly the problem we are built for.

- Yard locomotives
- Personnel transport
- 30+ years in service

Ports and terminals
Material handling equipment repair, structural fabrication, and machined components for terminal operations. Our OEM design and manufacturing experience covers heavy material handling systems and special-purpose vehicles built for continuous duty in punishing conditions.

Underground mining
Shuttle cars, locomotives, personnel carriers, loading machines, and cutting equipment for coal and potash operations across the US and Canada. Every machine is built around your seam height, spatial constraints, and operational workflow rather than pulled off a standard product line.

What backs the work

— Proof
Built once, running
for decades
The clearest measure of how we build is how long our equipment stays in service. Our buses and locomotives have run for more than 30 years. Our shuttle cars have run for nearly 20. Other machines we built are still operating past the 20 year mark.
That longevity is not an accident of scale. It comes from designing around a customer's actual conditions instead of a standard catalog spec, building to a documented quality system, and staying reachable for parts and rebuilds long after delivery. Most of our largest customers have been with us for over 20 years, which is the only endorsement that counts in equipment this heavy.
